More About the Artist:
Andrea Jacobs is a multidisciplinary artist who works through the mediums of fibers, drawing, printmaking, performance, and installation. By creating objects with techniques that require a slowness, such as weaving, natural dyeing, and meticulous drawing, she is committed to exploring, expanding, and recording time. This slowness is a push against the capitalist agenda of hyper production. Andrea’s work straddles the lines of slow and urgent, personal and political, spiritual and scientific. Drawing inspiration from ecology, ritual, and plant life, her work is grappling with how to cope with climate change in the current anthropocene.
Born and based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, she has lived on both coasts, earning her BFA in Fine arts from Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon. She is currently working on her MFA at Maine College of Art, in Portland, Maine.
