About the artwork:
The Ghost King effigy is a structure that is built during the Hungry Ghost Festival on the 7th month of the Chinese Lunar Calendar which is celebrated in the majority of Asia. It is believed during that time, the gates of the underworld open, and the spirits of our ancestors are released to roam in the mortal world while we honor and provide offerings for them.

About the End is Nigh:

The End is Nigh is an exhibition about the Allegories, Symbols, Stories, Characters, and Rituals surrounding death -- we wanted to investigate everything we can about how cultures and societies prepared for, honored, symbolized, and spoke about the great sleep. View the full exhibition here.
