– Dreams and the Subconscious –

MIDNIGHT features new work by eighty international illustrators, fine artists, and creatives who are bravely stepping into the realm of dreams and the subconscious. Artists create work inspired by some of their most vivid and memorable dreams as we attempt to unravel the secret undercurrents, fears, cryptic messages, and fractured narratives we experience through the thin veil of sleep. Throughout the MIDNIGHT exhibition, we welcome participants and viewers to decipher, decode, and analyze the artist's dreams.

About this piece:
I grew up in rural Pennsylvania, my house was next to an old barn and a few yards and edges of forest away, my friend lived on a goat farm. In my dream, I was at home and overcome with a sudden urge to find one of the goats and take it for food. When I went to my friend’s house only her aging forgetful grandmother was home. I asked which goat I could take and the grandmother gave the name of one that I knew was the most important to the family, but I took the goat anyway. I killed and ate it and as I took each bite I realized that I was creating a lie, a lie that I could never tell my friend. I suddenly found myself holding the whole goat and floating high above the farm fields.
