Somewhere between sinking and taking flight
Acryla Gouache on Heavyweight Watercolor Paper

About this piece:
Liberation is an evolutionary piece. Through the use of new media and a new subject, the absurd and curious toucan, this piece is an ode to finding freedom and becoming untethered from the ties that have bound me for many years. This piece represents my future as an artist, leaving the comfortable, slow quicksand I've lived in for so long for an exciting new start in my career. I'm ready to take flight into unknown territory and carve out a new space as the odd, colorful bird that I am.

About this artist:
Allison Bamcat is a contemporary gouache artist and designer living out of Boston, MA. Her hyper-colorful paintings are centered around plants, animals, fruit, and desserts suspended in stark, flat environments. She works professionally as a print and pattern designer for textiles.
