– Hiding in Plain Sight –

Camouflage features seventy international illustrators and designers who are pulling off the veil on the concept of what it means to be invisible. Artists created work exploring the concepts of blending in, assimilating, and adapting to their surroundings. Whatever the reason, we're constantly in hiding in one way or another. The art of camouflage spans the political, aesthetic, scientific, magical, psychological and social realms. The Camouflage Exhibition is on display May 26th - July 14th, 2017.

Growing Up
Original Painting
Turner Poster Color, BFK paper, mounted on wood panel, with archival matte varnish
24" x 18

About this piece:

If asked to identify common vegetables in the field, many of us would fail. Potatoes, carrots, and peanuts, among many others, all mask their most recognizable parts under layers of soil, leaving only tufts of green above. This painting examines the surprising nature of how the food we love grows underground, delighting in their discovery, and the opportunities to lose oneself in the harvest.

About this artist:

Taylor Fourt is an illustrator, gardener and extrovert from sweet home Alabama. Her work investigates growth, light, and rendering the imagined environment, which is why she teamed up with Kansas City's Manheim Park and Garden Conservancy as a board member, and Director of Communications; collaborating with locals to revitalize one of Kansas City's best-kept secrets.
