Ghost White
Color: Ghost White / #F8F8FF
Giclee Print
12" x 16"

About this piece:
Incorporeal and void of all color and life, ghosts are often pictured as white. I wanted to specifically explore how ectoplasm and spirit photography was used by some mediums in the 19-20th century to inspire both terror and hope in the curious and grieving. Back then ectoplasm was not the bright green of today's pop culture but a whitish and unshapely substance, in some cases found out to have been made from cheese cloth or gauze.

An illustration using and about the color ghost white. Ghosts have a tight grip on the human imagination and few things bring up such complex and conflicting emotions.

About this artist:
I'm a Swedish fine artist and illustrator focused on the fantastical and darkly surreal, working primarily with mixed media techniques and oil.

With a background in both illustration and game development, I lean towards narrative and character heavy art.
