The Dark Forest Exhibition is a guest-curated show featuring eight illustrators and textile artists from around the globe. The artwork is inspired by some of the secrets, small wonders, hidden links, and creatures that lurk within the forest. From mushrooms to tree roots to natural patterns, artists have created series of new paintings, framed prints, and small sculptures.

About this piece:
Nesting Dolls sometimes contain the unexpected - the little forest is kept safe and sound.
About this artist:
Jess Polanshek spent most of her childhood moving throughout the cities and forests of Florida and Vermont. Along with traditional art education, she spent time traveling overseas which has been a great influence on her artistic progression. Within these different environments, Polanshek's art has always revolved around elements of northern forests and the creatures that inhabit them. Focusing on high detail and loose realism, her art has evolved into an illustrative and whimsical style with a strong focus on the beauty and intricacies of the natural world. Polanshek started her business (Polanshek of the Hills) in 2013 in an effort to make a living by doing what she loves in her natural habitat- a woodland studio.
