"Be More Like Us" by Sher Rill Ng
– Hiding in Plain Sight –
Camouflage features seventy international illustrators and designers who are pulling off the veil on the concept of what it means to be invisible. Artists created work exploring the concepts of blending in, assimilating, and adapting to their surroundings. Whatever the reason, we're constantly in hiding in one way or another. The art of camouflage spans the political, aesthetic, scientific, magical, psychological and social realms. The Camouflage Exhibition is on display May 26th - July 14th, 2017.

About this piece:
When you join a community, the expectation is that you assimilate in order to maintain the lifestyle said the community has become accustomed to. For those of us who have moved to a new country, a new school or a new neighborhood, we've had to adjust ourselves so as not to make ripples. Sometimes the community chooses to adapt to us and the changes we bring, but other times the camouflage becomes more permanent.
About this artist:
Sher Rill is an illustrator based in Melbourne, Australia. By day she works as a web designer, but (and you guessed it) dreams of being a full-time artist. She is a book worm, a tea drinker, and plant lover. And if you love animated films as much as she does, you'll get a long fine. Sher Rill is currently working on writing and illustrating her first picture book, and she hopes you'll wish her luck!
