– Dreams and the Subconscious –

MIDNIGHT features new work by eighty international illustrators, fine artists, and creatives who are bravely stepping into the realm of dreams and the subconscious. Artists create work inspired by some of their most vivid and memorable dreams as we attempt to unravel the secret undercurrents, fears, cryptic messages, and fractured narratives we experience through the thin veil of sleep. Throughout the MIDNIGHT exhibition, we welcome participants and viewers to decipher, decode, and analyze the artist's dreams.

About this piece:
In light of current events, I seem to be dreaming a lot about guns. In this particular dream, my eldest son was traveling a desolate, burned-out landscape. Someone…something was trailing him. It whispered. It hissed. It terrified him. And when it finally got close enough to be an actual threat, he drew a revolver from thin, hot air and shot. The thing – a human-shaped shadow – screamed and oozed back into the parched earth, but my son knew it wasn't gone. It would come back. It would always come back. The gun was useless. And I had to watch from a helpless distance.
